Find out how this year's Christmas appeal is progressing and why Mind, the mental health charity, deserves your money
This year, money donated to Housing Today's Christmas appeal will go to Mind, the UK's leading mental health charity.

Mind does essential work across the country to help people suffering from illnesses such as depression and schizophrenia. Many of these people would otherwise be on the streets: half of all homeless people have mental health problems and a third of them became homeless as a direct result of their illness.

Through its care workers and sheltered accommodation, Mind offers support, advice, friendship and help with practical tasks such as managing money or maintaining a tenancy. Without this, many people would be left isolated and vulnerable to abuse.

The stigma and ignorance surrounding mental illness means that Mind often struggles to find donations. Although the charity does valuable work to combat the prejudice and fear that mental illness inspires, it badly needs money to continue this work on a national and local level. Money donated by Housing Today readers will go directly to help some of society's most vulnerable people to lead full, safe lives. A number of high-profile companies have already given their support.

With your support, Mind can save many more of these people from ending up on the streets this Christmas.
