6:20PM Project manager finishes Disability Discrimination Act upgrade at Queen Mother Sports Centre

Project manager Millbridge has celebrated the opening of the latest in a string of upgrades to bring buildings into line with the Disability Discrimination Act. The Queen Mother Sports Centre in Victoria, central London, was opened last week by Olympic gold medallist Duncan Goodhew MBE and the deputy lord mayor of Westminster, Frances Blois - both pictured left in celebratory mood.

The project is Millbridge's third of three city of Westminster leisure centre DDA upgrades. The £650,000 project at the Queen Mother Sports Centre included the construction of a new entrance foyer accommodating an accessible lift and widened staircase.

Since the beginning of the year, Millbridge has overseen £1m worth of DDA improvements to Westminster leisure centres. It worked on the Seymour Leisure Centre in Seymour Street, which has had a new 10-metre bridge constructed that spans the Grade 11 listed building's front lightwell.

DDA improvements have also taken place at Grade 11 listed Porchester Hall in Bayswater, including a new external access ramp and converting the existing goods lift into an accessible passenger lift.
