This is your chance to win four new editions of cost bible Spon’s by taking part in our measurement quiz
The titles, published by Taylor & Francis, take in architects and builders’ prices, external works, M&E costs and civil engineers’ prices.
We’re also throwing in the new SMM7 Questions & Answers book, published by RICS Books. The quiz is set by joint author of that title John Davidson, Cyril Sweett director and honorary queries secretary for the committee that oversees SMM.
The Question
Paragraph 3.4 of the General Rules section of SMM7 reads as follows:
“Unless otherwise stated, where minimum deductions for voids are dealt with in this document they shall refer only to openings or wants which are within the boundaries of measured areas. Openings or wants which are at the boundaries of measured areas shall always be the subject of deduction irrespective of size”. What is a ‘want’?
