The market for small scale renewables is set to increase as double the Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) have become available across the UK.
A ROC is a green certificate issued to those that generate their own renewable energy through a small scale wind turbine or other renewable energy sources. For every megawatt hour (MWh) of eligible renewable energy generated you will receive a payback from a licensed electricity utility company.
With double the ROCs available from April 2009, those who produce their own renewable energy may see a return on their investment in a shorter period of time.
Andrew McMullan, Proven Energy ceo, said: “This is a step forward for the small wind industry. It makes wind turbines even more attractive to potential buyers as the pay back periods are further reduced”.
