The government wants ventilation manufacturers to put their new domestic products through energy efficiency tests as part of its Energy Efficiency Best Practice in Housing Scheme.
The government is interested in ‘emerging products’ which are either new or substantially modified existing equipment.
The results of the testing scheme will be used to set best practice benchmarks for which there is little information.
This scheme is part of a move to encourage clients in the social housing sector to use more sustainable and energy efficient products. Social housing providers interested in the benefits of a particular system are encouraged to apply to the scheme in partnership with manufacturers.
Manufacturers who submit products for testing will receive a report on whether their products meet current government standards for best practice in energy efficiency in housing.
Manufacturers will be expected to fund the testing of their products, but the government suggests sharing costs with distributors or partnering with clients.
