Over the past few months we have been including the latest EN 50131-1 graded products announced by the alarm manufacturers. Here are some we have heard about in the last month. And manufacturers ... if you're launching graded equipment, let us know and we will include it in future product pages.
Concept is green
Rokonet is launching its new iWISE Green Line DT AM series of detectors that comply with all relevant European and UK standards: EN 50131-1 Grade 3, PD6662 Grade 3, TS50131-2-4 Grade 3, Environmental Class 2.
The detectors have Active IR anti-masking and include Rokonet's patented Anti-Cloak Technology said to give superior detection and false alarm immunity. The new series will be sold worldwide.
The Green Line concept follows environmentally friendly guidelines by avoiding surplus radiation emission. The active MW channel can be disabled when the alarm system is in "unset" mode, eliminating surplus MW radiation while occupants are in the premises. This new concept is implemented in the iWISE Green Line DT AM series, available in two models; 15m and 25m coverage.
Another Grade 3 detector is the iWISE Quad AM with 15m coverage. iWISE Quad AM upgrades Rokonet's best selling iWISE Quad and CoSMOS Quad models to Grade 3 requirements, with the addition of active IR anti-mask and other features required for Grade 3 installations.

Three in one
Pyronix has launched the KX 15DTAM and the Kudos AM, three-in-one anti masking detectors, said to be the ideal choice for installations requiring a Grade 3 system.
The KX15DTAM is the latest addition to the innovative KX Series, which consists of seven detectors in one common housing.
The company says that, unlike other anti-masking detectors on the market, the KX15DTAM has the ability to detect masking of either PIR or microwave.
It has Anti Block technology and 15m Volumetric detection range for both PIR and microwave . It is also supplied with 18m vertical curtain and 30m long range lenses.
Also launched is the TMD 15 Grade 3, showcased at this year's IFSEC. The TMD 15 boasts two overlapping detectors, a PIR and a dual technology, in one robust housing.
It has the ability to operate as TMD (Two Movement Detectors) or TriCover. Other features are patented anti masking detection and the ability to detect masking of either PIR or microwave. It also has Anti Block technology and selectable end of line resistors.

'New wave' panels
CML Microcircuits provides ultra-low powered modem solutions "with very high reliability and integrity" meeting the new European legislation requirements.
The company says it is "actively pursuing the new standard, helping designers integrate their wireline and wireless modems in to URN designs. A range of evaluation kits is available for rapid design-in. These new kits allow designers full access to all functions of the chip and its external components."
The CMX909B and new CMX990 miniature narrowband M2M GMSK modem IC, is said to offer 100 per cent accuracy thanks to their ability to run on the Mobitex wireless packet-data network.

Level of simplicity
The Gardtec 872 control panels meets all the current industry requirements and still maintains a level of simplicity for both the end user and the engineer, says Gardtec.
The modifications required to fall in line with the new PD6662 standards has given Gardtec the opportunity to take on board customer feedback and implement changes. These include RS 485 connections allowing for additional features and larger end stations to inhabit larger batteries and power supplies.
The Gardtec range of control panels is designed with the future in mind and this is demonstrated with the 144 zones available and 99 user codes or 16 wireless zones available with the GTX wireless option.
Features include: Grade 3 Metal (pictured); Grade 2 Polycarbonate; 16 EOL zones; DD243 compliant; up top 144 zones; programmable custom screens; 99 user codes; 752 log event memory; one full set and three part sets.

No confusion for installers
Meeting the EN 50131-1 standards, the Bosch Abacus Evolution has a simple philosophy – "two panels, one range, no confusion" and has been specifically designed to make it easy for installers, says the company. It is said to be easily expandable from 8 to 256 zones and ideal for Grade 2 and Grade 3 applications .
Configurable to meet "virtually any residential and commercial requirement to EN50131, PD6662 and DD243 specifications", it also “meets or exceeds stringent BSIA and ACPO false alarm requirements while maintaining the highest level of protection”.
The Abacus Evolution comprises the ICP G2 model for 8 to 64 zones in Grade 2 applications and the ICP G3 model for 8 to 256 zones to Grade 3. It features a wide range of snap-in modules for easy configuration and expansion. It has optional communications for remote servicing.
"This unique 2 model approach takes the confusion out of the market," said Jeremy Hockham, UK MD of Bosch Security Systems. "No longer do installers have to wade through complex specifications and standards to choose the right model, and there's no need to stock and support many different ranges, models and parts. In addition to reducing inventory costs, the Evolution also results in lower servicing and training costs and it's very easy to expand," he said.
Both models use a bus-based snap-in expansion system that allows extra zones, memory modules, modems etc to be added and re-configured to meet almost any requirement quickly and easily. Devices are easily 'visible' on the bus allowing quick local or remote set-up.
