- Window, door and curtain walling manufacturer Profile 22 has developed its first BIM Object for the company’s Fully Reversible 70mm window system. The object provides all 2D and 3D product representations, information and data associated with the product. Profile 22’s BIM objects are available in Revit file format allowing the product to be incorporated into a 3D model and its associated component database. - The two brands of Leaderflush Shapland and Laidlaw Ironmongery have been brought together to create Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw. The newly formed company manufactures performance doorsets and supplies architectural ironmongery for the health, education, leisure and commercial sectors. Improvements will include clearer product propositions, new customer support teams, technical expertise and support and innovation across service, product and technology.
- Mighton Products now offers Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood plastic composite (WPC) products to the timber window and door industry. The Cambridge manufacturer and distributor can supply WPC products for timber sash and casement windows. Mightonite is a mixture of durable plastic and timber flour that Mighton has used to develop products that can be used as substitutes for traditional timber staff, parting beads, glazing beads and cills.
- Guardian Glass UK has developed BIM objects for their full range of products. Guardian’s BIM objects allow glass to be specified either as a design material, or in single, double or triple glazing, with data variations to account for laminated glass and other glass processes such as heat treatments. Sliding door system
Building envelope specialist Schueco UK has added a manual version of the Schueco ASS 77 PD.HI system to its range of glazed, panoramic sliding doors. With ultra-slim sightlines (the interlock stile width is 30 mm) and a perimeter frame that is entirely concealed within the wall, the new door provides maximum transparency and virtually uninterrupted external views. The Schueco ASS 77 PD.HI can accommodate double or triple glazing which, the company claims, delivers U-values as low as 1.1 W/m2K. The glazing is bonded to the door leaf to ensure structural integrity and multi-point locking delivers security to EN 1627 RC2 standard. Panels can be up to 3.2 m wide and 3.0 m high with a maximum panel weight of 300 kg.

Panel doors
Ahmarra has supplied bespoke panel doors from its Artisan Range to a luxury housing development in the London suburb of Wimbledon. Wimbledon Hill Park is a high-specification development of 94 homes by house builder, Berkeley Homes. Ahmarra’s Artisan panel doors are manufactured individually to order meaning that the products could be designed to meet the specific requirements of the development. Ahmarra Door Solutions supplied doors for the first phase of eight houses with interiors ranging from 3,350 to 6,500ft2. A range of doors styles were selected including the four panelled Windsor in a dark walnut veneer and the two panelled Blenheim (with glazed option), which was factory finished in white.

Casement windows
Aluminium casement windows from Technal have been specified for a flagship primary care centre in Swansea, which the company says has contributed to a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and a high level of energy efficiency. Technal’s FXi65 projecting side hung casement windows were chosen to feature as ‘punched hole’ configurations on all elevations. The FXi65 casement window system features curved profiles and delivers thermal efficiency using a 19mm flush polyamide thermal break and innovative gasket detailing to meet or exceed Building Regulations. The 65mm module accommodates 17mm up to 48mm glazing units. Configuration options include fixed lights, top, side and bottom hung, tilt/turn and tilt/slide.

Window and door systems
Doors , windows and curtain walling from Metal Technology have been installed on the recently opened Community Hub in Somerstown, Portsmouth. The building spans a main traffic route into Portsmouth city centre and will house Southsea Community Centre, a dance studio, cafe and sports hall as well as an NHS health clinic and a council housing office. Metal Technology said that their System 5-20 Hi+ thermally enhanced tilt and turn windows, rooflights and 5-20D door system contributed to the building’s BREEAM Excellent rating.

Entrance doors
An automatic and manual door entrance package from DORMA has been specified as part of a major £25m refurbishment of Debenhams Oxford Street in London. The external refurbishment has been designed by Archial Norr Architects in conjunction with artist Ned Kahn. A complete entrance package of 14 toughened glass door sets from DORMA were specified by Archial Norr which included seven manual pairs with DORMA floorsprings, six DORMA ED200i in-head automatic swing door operators and one all glass fire escape door featuring DORMA AD 4400 TGD panic hardware. The company says DORMA entrance systems were chosen to complement the newly refurbished exterior.

Aluminium windows
Aluminium systems specialists Sapa Building Systems has added two windows to its Dualframe 75 Si range. The Pivot and Reversible options have been introduced to complement the existing Dualframe 75 Si suite in order to offer more choice to specifiers. The company claims that both windows achieve an A+ WER and low U-values (1.3 W/m²k for Pivot and 1.4W/m²k for Reversible) using standard double glazed units. In addition the security performance of both windows meets PAS 024 requirements while both windows have been designed to be Part L 2019 compliant.

Secure door entry system
Legrand have launched the new Bticino Classe 100 secure door entry system. The system has been designed to offer a contemporary handsfree solution that can be wall mounted using a mounting bracket supplied with the unit. The unit can also be positioned on a table or any other flat surface using a purpose-designed support. Available in audio only or audio and video options, Legrand claims that both units offer excellent sound quality, with the video unit providing a full colour 3.5 inch screen.

Sash windows
Sash windows from Lomax + Wood have been installed throughout this newly refurbished Georgian farmhouse in Broadland, Norfolk. The red brick property has received a complete internal and external restoration which involved retention of the original front facade and a new contemporary wing. Timber, Georgian-style box sash windows, with fixed side panels from the company’s Kensington & Chelsea range
were chosen for the restoration. The windows are operated with traditional cords and weights in the principal rooms, and with a spring balance operation in the new wing.
