Nordic engineer targets expansion of foreign turnover to 50% by 2016
Engineer Ramboll has poached Halcrow’s managing director for the Middle East and Africa, Yaver Abidi.
Abidi has been appointed as Ramboll’s managing director of its new markets business unit, which runs Ramboll’s operations outside the UK and its Nordic base. He will be based in Ramboll’s Dubai office.
He had been at Halcrow since 1995 and held a number of senior positions in the company. He worked in North America, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and Africa.
He said he would look to develop Ramboll’s presence in the Middle East and India.
He added: “Our primary objective is to significantly develop our presence in these growing markets while expanding into new regions including Russia, South East Asia, North America and Africa.”
Ramboll currently gets 20% of its €1Bn turnover from outside its home Nordic markets and it aims to raise this to between 40% and 50% by 2016.
