The training has been devised jointly by the Local Government Task Force (LGTF) and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
Construction minister Nigel Griffiths identified billions of pounds of potential cost efficiencies in the construction industry in his inaugural speech.
The series of seminars was launched in August at the Local Government Authority Conference by local government minister, Nick Raynsford who said: "Collectively, authorities will spend in excess of £11 billion on construction, refurbishment and maintenance projects next year. The way that we have traditionally procured offers significant opportunity for cost and time savings, which ultimately benefits councils and their communities."
The 'Building procurement change' seminars will tour the UK, visiting London, Peterborough, Durham, Burton-on-Trent, Stratford on Avon, Preston, Buith Wells, Taunton, Winchester and Wakefield.
