Philips has introduced the Rotaris luminaire. The 60W TL5 circular lamp and the luminaire’s 60% efficiency means that it can be installed at normal spacings in an office environment. The Rotaris comes in recessed, surface mounted and suspended versions which can be combined to suit the respective application. The recessed version offers additional options: integration of spots, both adjustable and fixed; integration of a multi-sensor, which provides movement detection, daylight regulation and remote control functionality; a perforation pattern, which allows the integration of a loudspeaker in the centre piece. It can also be inserted into a square white metal ceiling tile for integration in system ceilings. Its round shape means the lighting design can follow the office layout as it imposes no additional grid or orientation on the space.

Zero maintenance
The latest led escape sign luminaires from CEAG Crouse-Hinds are explosion protected for installation in hazardous areas. The use of white led technology enables maintenance free operation, with no replacing of illuminants throughout the service life of the luminaire.
Due to the wide input voltage range, from 110 V to 254 V ac and 220 V dc, this luminaire can be used internationally. The signs have a visibility range of 25 m, and are available in a wide choice of pictograms. Also, the daily function test is carried out automatically.
Units can be fitted with with an additional CG-S module that will allow it to be used in conjunction with a CEAG ZB-S central battery system.

Emergency lighting
Fagerhult has launched emLED – its latest approach to emergency lighting using led technology. The focal point of emLED is the high output 1 W led, as the luminaire’s dedicated emergency light source. emLED comes in two designs: as a component for integral application; and as a self contained stand alone unit. The integral solution’s miniaturised components allow for a broader range of possibilities where the light source type, distribution or available space is limited. The stand-alone unit (emLEDS-s) can be either surface mounted or recessed. It has a self–test system as standard with the possibility of a connection to a building management system, NiMH environmentally friendly batteries which can operate at lower ambient temperatures, emergency lighting for a three-hour duration and a service life of 60 000 hours for the led.

More digital options
Thorn Lighting has introduced SensaDigital and Sensalink Digital. SensaDigital is suitable for small offices. Infared detectors can be recessed, surface mounted or integrated into luminaires. The system can be programmed using a remote programming tool and a hand held controller gives users the opportunity to set their own local lighting preferences. Sensalink Digital is a lighting management system of numerous groups of linked luminaires without the need for a central controller or special operating software. It can be used in conjunction with wall mounted scene selection plates to provide user friendly but advanced control options.

Low energy drum range
GET has launched a new range of amenity lighting. The drum range includes a number of square, circo and mini-circo IP65 rated, low energy fittings. They are suitable for walls and ceilings in corridors, stairwells and subways where amenity or security lighting is called for. The new fittings come with compact fluorescent lamps and GLS options and are both dust and water-jet proof. They also have a feature that allows the conduit to be run straight through the fitting to ensure stable and secure fixing when wall mounted.
