The Mini-Linea fluorescent range from Coughtrie Lighting is suitable for low-level lighting solutions. The range includes the Vennelux, Epilux and Rotolux mini-linear fluorescents designed for PL and L lamps from 9 W to 18 W. The luminaires are suitable for ceiling mounting with typical applications including hallways, entrances and staircases in housing and multi-occupancy homes.
There is also the Supremo, which is an anti-vandal luminaire designed for 70 W son T and 35 W CDMT lamps. This has been designed for archways, alleyways and walkways. All feature fire-retardant diffusers and hinged gear trays.

Going round the Loop
Fagerhult's Loop range now includes the Loop light wall and floor. Designed by members of the PLH Architects team in Copenhagen, Loop light is a slender luminaire made from extruded aluminium. Loop light floor has a decorative floor plate. The lamp head houses a lamell louvre that achieves powerful symmetrical distribution of direct/indirect light when used with the 55 W or 80 W lamp. The wall version completes the range and the fitting is installed via a mounting tray.

Escape with style
Zumtobel Staff's Artsign, a new emergency escape luminaire, is available in two formats: wall recessed and ceiling recessed with an aluminium housing. The Artsign has a streamlined aesthetic that allows it to blend seamlessly into any interior design and offers a substantially longer emergency lamp life expectancy of approximately ten years. Artsign's development process paid close attention to the optical design to ensure that there would be uniform illuminance throughout Artsign. This enables it to have a smaller legend body but still maintain a recognition range of 15 m.

Tailored to LG3
RIDI Lighting is launching the Miela SG, a luminaire tailored to the demands of the CIBSE LG3 office lighting standard.
The luminaire delivers improved direct ceiling illuminance and an even spread of light to ensure enhanced performance.
Although manufactured in Germany, the Miela SG has been designed by RIDI in the UK to give clients a one-stop solution to the LG3 challenge.
The luminaire has been specially developed to relieve office environments from poor light distribution and oppressive shadow patterns. It includes a reeded matt aluminium gull-wing reflector that delivers uniform spread of vertical illumination, glare-free performance and high levels of visual comfort.

Far from Spartan living
The new T5 Sparta fitting from Designplan Lighting offers a sleek, energy efficient design. It has been developed for use in general semi-exposed areas with public access.
The T5 is IK10 impact rated (BS 50102: 1995) and provides protection against accidental knocks and low-level vandalism. It is manufactured with a zinc-coated steel body which has been finished in a chemical and abrasion-resistant black polyester powder coat.
The fitting can take the latest slimline T5 lamps and is IP44 rated. Its clear patterned polycarbonate diffuser springs into gasketed slots in the body to prevent dirt or moisture getting in. Installation and maintenance are made easier by the high frequency control gear which is mounted on a removable tray together with a plug and fused socket block.

Energy saving lampholders
Eaton's MEM 250 has launched lampholder that will only accept energy saving compact fluorescent lamps. The Litesaver BC3 lampholder has a non-standard bayonet fitting with three J-slot fixings to restrict its use to low energy compact fluorescent lamps with a compatible BC3 cap. The BC3 lampholder does not include the ballast; it is intended for use with compact fluorescent lamps having integral electronic ballasts. This means that householders can replace compact fluorescent lamps with types of a different rating in the same way that they do with incandescent lamps. The BC3 lampholders are the same size as existing products and will accept all UK size lampshades. The new BC3 lampholders are available in a simple pendant lampholder, complete pendant sets with a 100 mm or 150 mm drop, straight battenholders and angled battenholders. Compatible Litesaver lamps are available in 15 W and 20 W ratings in warm white or cool white colour temperatures.
