Tyco Integrated Systems has won a major contract to replace and upgrade the wireless communications systems covering the entire 30km of track operated by the Docklands Light Railway.

The wireless system will provide train operating staff, maintenance staff and management with reliable, state of the art communications to enhance safety and efficiency.

The new wireless system, designed and supplied by TIS, replaces the original 15-year old UHF system with advanced wireless base-stations and fibre optics that combine the latest in digital and analogue technology to provide a robust and flexible integrated system designed to meet the current communications needs of the DLR.
