Architects and specifiers often need to overcome the problem of maximising insulation and energy saving with designs which have large areas of glass.

Clash Architects has solved this at the new Tooting & Mitcham Football Club in south London by using the Kalwall translucent system.

The building, funded by Sport England and the Lottery, was designed with wings, either side of the administration hub and spectators stand, to include a health, fitness and leisure complex with indoor play zone, fitness centre and mixed use rooms. The four long elevations on the wings have all been clad with full height Kalwall.

Kalwall is highly insulated, so energy loss is minimised and the cladding system diffuses daylight evenly across the interior. This reduces the need for artificial light and maintains privacy without the need for curtains or blinds.
