The legion Group held its Annual dinner in conjunction with its charitable owner, the Royal British Legion Attendants Company Charitable Trust, on 22 March at The Armourers' Hall in central London.
The event - to which Security Management Today received a special invitation - marked the valour of the British Army at the 1916 Battle of the Somme. His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent was the principal Guest of Honour.
Prior to the dinner, Prince Michael presented BSIA Awards to Legion Security officers Steve Wright and Lucia Branisova in recognition of the ways in which both have acted "above and beyond the call of duty" during the course of their work.
After-dinner speaker Keith Simpson MP gave an eloquent and highly detailed account of the Somme conflict, while David Switzer - chairman of the Company and Charity - offered a discourse on the work of the Charity, and reiterated the need for the continuing support of ex-servicemen and women.
