White Young Green is providing a range of consultancy services on the £30m redevelopment of a former department store in Leeds. The firm is undertaking planning, structural design, transportation and environmental consulting to client Capital & Counties.

The project will transform the store on The Headrow into retail, office and residential units with a roof garden. The development will comprise 125,000 sq ft of retail space, around 157,000 sq ft of office space and 23 apartments. Work started on site in October 2005 and is due to finish in early 2008.

The project team on the scheme also includes QS Cyril Sweett, architect The Fairhurst Design Group and M&E engineer Faber Maunsell.

Another mixed-use scheme in Leeds has been completed meanwhile. Burtenshaws was the QS on the £9.5m development on North Street, which comprises 80 flats and 22,500 square feet of offices.
