Four-year m&e and fm deal for Kier Facilities Services
Kier Facilities Services (KFS) has won a four-year framework agreement with Surrey County Council, amounting to over £40m.
The newly-integrated business will be responsible for improvement works and round-the-clock maintenance cover for more than 900 buildings.
KFS is also set to play a key part in a wide-ranging corporate property and facilities management services contract with Sheffield City Council. Kier has been named as preferred bidder for the seven-year deal, valued at £55m.
Surrey County Council’s framework agreement includes mechanical, electrical and buildings fabric work plus emergency call-outs, covering schools and educational buildings, council offices and community buildings, leisure centres, emergency services, libraries and museums.
Ian Lake, Surrey’s executive member for support services, said: “I am delighted that Kier will be providing these critical maintenance and improvement services to the county council. With over 900 buildings involved, including schools, the professional skills and trades delivered by Kier’s local workforces will be of great benefit to Surrey.”
KFS operations director Rob Baker said: “As well as extending the geographic spread of our capabilities, this agreement strengthens our commitment to providing high levels of service to local authorities in the southern region. It is also a significant boost for our locally-based workforce and contractors, securing further work at a critical time for the construction industry.”
Other local authorities served by Kier Facilities Services include Hampshire, Cornwall and Hertfordshire county councils, Portsmouth City Council and West Berkshire District Council.
