Installers have recognised a latent, but fast-growing consumer demand for glass, especially for specialist glass, such as K2’s Celsius thermal performance glass.
K2 Glass, which launched Celsius just over a year ago has a long history of expertise in manufacturing glass units for conservatory roofs. ‘Celsius has advantages over both standard glass and polycarbonate in terms of thermal performance, noise reduction and ease of maintenance and its success has revealed a real consumer trend towards glass roofs,’ comments Dave Bradshaw, Managing Director of K2 Glass.

‘Furthermore, Celsius offers consumers the reassurance of a fully comprehensive service, as part of the K2 network of companies, which includes both extensive marketing literature and complete customer support from choosing the glass to technical aspects of installation. These factors have contributed to its consumer appeal as a high-quality product.’

Celsius is specifically designed for conservatory roof applications, to offer benefits over both standard glass and polycarbonate, providing better thermal efficiency and sound reduction.

In the summer, Celsius is able to reflect 72% of solar energy, more than three times the amount reflected by standard glass. It is also subtly tinted blue to decrease unwanted glare by up to 55% compared to glass, while still admitting sufficient light for the conservatory to be enjoyed on duller days.

In the winter, Celsius retains 50% more heat than standard glass, helping to keep the conservatory warm and reduce heating costs. The unique microcoating also helps to reduce condensation, by keeping the internal pane up to 5°C warmer than standard glass.

Celsius performance glass can provide a pleasant environment in the conservatory by reducing the impact of outside noise levels by up to 100% compared to standard polycarbonate. The product also ensures ease of maintenance, as the easy clean coating on Celsius means that water runs off the glass, taking dirt and grime with it, reducing the need for manual cleaning.

Less than a year after launch, K2 is reporting exceptional success for Celsius thermal performance glass, with the revolutionary product surpassing forecast sales by as much as 400% month on month. The popularity of Celsius and its increasing sales has led to K2 Glass increasing its workforce by more than 25%, doubling its fleet of delivery vehicles and setting up a new distribution hub near Bedford, in order to deliver to a greater number of installers across the country.

This increase in employees, vehicles and distribution hubs has meant that K2 is now able to provide a direct delivery service to the consumer, or the site of the installation.

K2 predicts that sales of Celsius glass will continue to grow at a similar rate over the coming few months.
