The National Health Service University (NHSU) has launched two national training programmes, Estates Apprenticeships and Estates Upskilling, for people employed within NHS Estates maintenance teams.

Research has revealed that 60% of NHS Estates staff will retire within the next ten to 20 years, raising concerns over the continuity of a workforce to maintain hospital buildings.

JTL is to manage training for the NHSU. Chief executive Denis Hird said: “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity and are committed to delivering highly qualified staff for the health service.”
