New health and safety initiative offers support to employers

JTL has produced a Safe Learner DVD as part of an industry-wide campaign to encourage employers to adopt a set of safe behaviour patterns and reduce onsite accidents.

The training provider has pioneered the free tool with part funding from the government’s Learning and Skills Council (LSC).

This joint initiative offers health and safety advice to apprentices, with input from employers, in order to reduce work place accidents and fatalities.

JTL’s health and safety manager Steve Smith said: “Accidents do happen – but most can be avoided and as an industry we should be doing more. The Safe Learner campaign is designed to support and aid employers in developing the right mindset and behaviours to help foster safe working amongst staff.

“This campaign should not be seen as a lecture to employers but more as a short and informative tool that is brought to employers by employers and should be used as the first step to a safer working environment.”

The Safe Learner DVD is available direct from JTL or via the Learning Skills Council.
