The States of Jersey Police has selected the Universal Video Management System (UVMS) from PI Vision to form the digital recording backbone of its soon-to-be upgraded analogue CCTV system, which will cover the St Helier town area and the police headquarters.
Systems Integrator ADT has been selected to upgrade the system to enable it to handle 60 camera inputs at 25 frames per second at full resolution giving full frame refresh. The DVR will also provide continuous re-cording on all cameras on a 24/7 basis.

The system includes several cameras in the police station custody and detection area and the ability to record synchronised audio and video was paramount. The UVMS is the successor to PI Vision's 2nd Eyes Enterprise DVR and can be expanded to record and manage over 5000 camera inputs.

Gary Buesnel, head of communications for Jersey Police commented: "The key issues are picture quality, recorded image integrity and authentication, and a reduction in the amount of officer time spent when retrieving archive recordings."
