All the latest products and services will be showcased by a host of exhibitors at this year’s M&E Event, 10-11 October, plus seminars throughout. Three other exhibitions take place alongside: the AMPS Power Expo, E2 Energy Solutions Expo and Total Workplace Management see you there.

Day one: 10 October

Time Session

10:30 Delivering sustainable buildings the hands-on debate

12:00 While government legislation drives forward with sustainablebuilding policies, the construction industry has to find a way to deliver what’s needed. SummitSkills has identified a gap in green technology installation know-how. How can we bridge this gap? Are contractors ready for increasing demand for green products? A team of practitioners, industry bodies such as the ECA and HVCA and training organisations will debate what can be done to ensure the UK’s m&e industry can reap the rewards of the new sustainable economy.

12:30 CIBSE 100 Days of Carbon Clean Up 2007

1:30 CIBSE introduces this year’s Carbon Clean Up campaign. The presentation includes the most cost-effective steps you can take to make your building more energy efficient. Hands-on energy efficiency Peter Warburton, Arup One of the UK’s leading practitioners describes how to take energy ideas from the drawing board to make them work in practice.

Lunch

2:30 Building accreditation: dealing with the paperwork

3:00 David Bleicher, BSRIA Bleicher will explain how asset and operational ratings for buildings will work under the new Energy Performance in Buildings Directive, and what operators and designers will have to do to ensure their paperwork is correct.

3:00 Code for sustainable homes BRE

3:30 An expert outlines the current legislation and guidelines on creating and measuring energy-efficient homes. This includes a look at government thinking on zero carbon homes and the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Day two: 11 October

Time Session

10:30 Delivering on the sustainable promise: bems as the key to

11:00 operational efficiency John Fallon, Cylon Controls There is little point in having a building capable of being energy efficient if it is not operated properly. A well-installed building energy management system (BEMS) is critical for these design objectives. This presentation looks at how a BEMS can help deliver on an A-rated building. It explores how monitoring and targeting can be integrated with a BEMS to offer a full energy management system. It outlines best practice considerations and how new technology advances can be harnessed to reduce energy consumption.

11:00 Commissioning controls for maximum energy efficiency

11:30 Doug Robins, Priva Building Intelligence Effective commissioning is key to ensuring that your controls system functions properly. So why is it such a continual problem? Robins looks at how it should be done.

11:30 Practical steps to cutting your carbon emissions and a guide

12:00 to building labels and energy certification – Peter Winterbottom, ABB he spotlight is going to be on energy use in buildings when new legislation starts to bite in 2008. In this session, interbottom looks at the certification issues and examines how to cut carbon emissions.

Lunch

2:00 The 17th Edition of the Wiring Regulations – the ECA

3:30 The ECA will offer a detailed look at what’s new in the latest revision of the Wiring Regulations, due to come into force in 2008. What practical steps should professionals be taking to ensure they’re ready to adhere to the latest rules?

Aggreko

Stand D61

Aggreko is showcasing its latest temporary air-conditioning unit for industry, the ACHP160. It has a 100kW cooling capacity with a variable airflow of 10-20km3/hr and can also act as a heat pump.

The ACHP160 is designed to provide a reliable, flexible and cost-effective solution for all major events. It can be deployed equally well for ongoing process enhancement and dealing with critical events.

Andrews Water Heaters

Stand C80

Andrews will exhibit its solar thermal water heating package Solarflo, the Maxxflo stainless steel condensing storage water heater and the traditional-style ECOflo condensing storage water heater. The company will demonstrate how to maximise the combined energy saving capability of renewable technology, such as solar thermal water heating, linked with condensing hot water technology.
Enquiries 171

Cablofil

Stand C95
Cablofil has made it even quicker to install its wire tray system with the launch of its Faslock clip.

Designed to replace the traditional nut and bolt method of fixing lengths of cable tray together, Faslock is designed to create bends with Cablofil wire tray for widths of 100-600mm. It simply clips into place and, once secured with a pair of pliers, provides a sturdy joint.

It is available in electrozinc, hot dip galvanised and stainless steel 316L options.

Enquiries 172

Colt International

Stand A160

Colt International will launch Caloris, its WRF (water refrigerant flow) air-conditioning system, at the E2 Energy Solutions Expo.

WRF uses heat pump technology to provide high performance output while minimising use of environmentally harmful refrigerants, thus beating the F-Gas Regulations. It uses a neutral water pipework system to provide heating, cooling and heat recovery, and is compatible with ground source heat pump technology.

On the first day, Colt will present one of the show’s many seminars Heat pump technology: will ground source energy displace air source? It takes place from 2.30pm to 3.10pm in seminar theatre A.
