IFSEC organiser CMP Information – publisher of Security Management Today, Security Installer and CCTV Today – has announced the launch of a targeted research initiative examining the impact of Internet Protocol (IP) technology on the security industry.
Thought to be the biggest research exercise of its kind, the project involves a comprehensive survey of the IFSEC visitor database (a sample of over 30,000 professionals from across the global security industry).

The project spearheads this year's IFSEC, which runs alongside Security Solutions at the Birmingham NEC from 10-13 May. The show will feature over 100 IP solutions providers, all of whom will be hosted in a dedicated IP 'village' to be branded 'Network Advantage'. There will also be a dedicated CMP Information web site section featuring the research results, which will themselves be fed into the content of 'Network Advantage'.

Speaking to SMT about the initiative, IFSEC event director Richard Clarke commented: "In an area that's currently served by niche events, conferences and seminars this new IFSEC initiative combined with the research programme will ensure that 'Network Advantage' is fundamentally all about the bold commercial reality of rolling out IP and networks solutions."
