The zone has been planned with the full support of the SIA, ASIS International, the BSIA, The Security Institute and a number of the UK’s leading guarding companies (including G4S Security Services (UK), Mitie Security, Securitas, Initial Security, Legion Group, Wilson James, ICTS, Nationwide Security Services, Constant Security Services and Broadland Guarding.
The event will host a strong educational programme, including an entire seminar day run by experts from The Security Institute on Tuesday 9 May.
The SIA and Skills for Security will be running various seminars as well as offering advice from their stands. The seminars will focus on solutions for security and facilities managers, enabling them to make informed purchasing decisions.

The Guarding Pavilion is located in Hall 7 of the NEC, benefiting from close proximity to Security Solutions. An ideal networking area for end users! Security Guarding at IFSEC will be an excellent opportunity to show unity and professionalism within the sector, particularly so following a year of such major and positive transformation.

Apprentices show their skills
Apprentice installers will have the opportunity to pit their skills against each other at IFSEC 2006 – Europe’s leading annual security event – in return for fantastic prizes and industry acclaim.
The Apprentice Skills Challenge, sponsored by BT redcare (and run in association with Skills for Security, the SSAIB and the NSI) will require participants to carry out a fault-finding exercise prior to re-commissioning an existing system in line with the new EN standards.
Mirroring the changing landscape of the security installer sector, the Apprentice Skills Challenge has evolved for 2006 and now requires participants to demonstrate both critical and installation skills.
As in previous years, points will be allocated against the different disciplines, taking into account the various skills required. The team with the most points wins the challenge... and an all expenses paid adrenaline challenge of their choice, courtesy of BT redcare!
The contest has attracted huge interest from leading national companies in the security systems sector, with employers recognising the importance of having their apprentices showcased at IFSEC – where they have the opportunity to excel amongst their peers, and put their training into practice in public.
n Apprentices interested in taking part in this year’s Apprentice Skills Challenge should contact John Stanton at Skills for Security on (telephone) 01905 20004
