Nigel Fine to head up electrical engineering institution
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has appointed Nigel Fine as its new chief executive and secretary.
Commenting on his appointment Fine said, “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to lead such a prestigious Institution. I am looking forward to working with the IET members, trustees and staff to promote the advancement of science, engineering and technology through inspiring our young professionals, raising public awareness of the contribution the profession makes for the advancement and benefit of society and supporting professional development to maintain the highest standards of performance.”
Fine was previously with Experian where he was managing director for EMEA and Asia Pacific. He spent his early career with John Laing and International Paint, latterly as the European strategy and business development director.
He joined Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in 1994 where he was associate partner and managing director for an Andersen Consulting and Thames Water partnership.
Fine graduated from UMIST in 1978 with a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer and also holds an MBA from the London Business School.
Fine will take up his post on 8 June.
