St Barts Hospital in London is the first in the UK to sign up for Fläkt Woods Econet system.
This will be used to ventilate a temporary sterile services department.
Econet is widely used in Scandinavia. It offers heat recovery, heating and cooling and energy functions integrated into a common circuit. The system was recommended by contractor Skanska.
The temporary sterile services department is needed as the existing one is being demolished in part of a major redevelopment of the hospital. Temperature efficiency can be 70% higher using Econet. It can be operated on high level even at a reduced air flow rate.
The hospital is scheduled for completion in 2012/13, with major elements ready years beforehand.
