4.20PM Mouchel Parkman buys project manager for £11m

Stan Hornagold and David Hills have sold their project management company to support services firm Mouchel Parkman for £11.4m. Hornagold & Hills was owned by 12 partners.

Hills, former managing partner at Hornagold & Hills, has been made managing director of newly acquired operation, which keeps its name but becomes part of Mouchel’s management consultancy division. Hornagold, who was senior partner, has been made a director within the management consultancy division. He will focus on the Thames Gateway.

Hills said: “For us this presents an opportunity to work off a far wider platform of opportunity and with a bigger resources pool.” He said he hoped to increase business in both the UK and Middle East. Mouchel has offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Hornagold & Hills has a £13m turnover, 170 staff, five offices and works in 17 sectors. Hornagold founded the company in 1987 and was joined by Hills in 1989.

The firm’s current commissions include a £100m programme management job for the Royal Shakespeare Company to transform their theatres at Stratford-upon-Avon. Its client lists includes British Airways, BAA, BBC, Pfizer and Transport for London.

Mouchel Parkman has also bought software provider Traffic Support £26.3m and water and waste utilities consultant Ewan Group for £11m.

Mouchel Parkman chief executive Richard Cuthbert said: “Hornagold & Hills was “one the most respected names in project and programme management in the UK”. He said the deal brough his firm access to commercial property and corporate end-user sectors, whiles also strengthening Mouchel’s consultancy offering in its existing public sector and regulated industry marketplace.
