The Dutch government has told the EU that it will not be implementing the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive in the short term because of its high cost to tax payers.

It has been reported that implementing the directive would cost the Dutch about £55m a year, around £40m of which would be paid by business with the remainder from households.

  • The UK government has confirmed that it will make an announcement on Article 7, a key part of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive before Christmas. Article 7 relates to the energy certification of buildings.
