High hopes: Up to 400 affordable homes could be built on Brighton Marina as part of this £175m development, submitted to planners last week. The project would provide 1000 homes in total, 40% of which would be affordable.

The centrepiece 40-storey skyscraper would become the tallest building in Sussex if the scheme gets the go-ahead.

The tower was designed by Jim Eyre, a partner in architect Wilkinson Eyre.
