A 20,000 tonne high-rise housing block was demolished on 26 September using 110 pounds of explosives, as part of a major regeneration of Dundee.
The demolition of Cawdor, Downfield and Edzell Courts in the Ardler area was the sixth phase in the regeneration programme of Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association. The block is making way for about 40 new homes. Already 478 homes have been built on the site, and a total of 900 mixed-tenure homes will have been created for the housing association by the time the estate is completed in 2007.
