This month BSj takes a look at the latest product launches in the field of heating.

The green machine

Beeston Heating has launched the Briley cast iron boiler. With outputs from 60 kW to 140 kW, the Briley exceeds Part L requirements and is a Class 5 low NOx product. Features include premix combustion via the ceramic plaque burner, front/back build for modular installations, 4 bar pressure rating and requires a 125 mm diameter flue. Also no draught diverter is required. The Briley has high/low control with 50% turndown, giving close load matching characteristics. The Briley comes factory commissioned with twin gas/air ratio valves, direct compensation to a minimum of 60°C return and top cleanout for flueways. The use of a water cooled base minimises the losses to the plinth.

All fired up

EOGB has launched the Europa range of commercial burners. Units are available in gas or oil fired models with out puts ranging from 80 kW up to 3500 kW in gas, and from 60 kW up to 4000 kW in oil. The gas burners comply with the latest EN676 standard and the oil models with EN267. The burners consist of a monoblock burner casing in cast aluminium. A self-diagnostic system is available as an extra, which shows hours run, number of firings, high to low flame indicator, and operational mode.

Giving a boost to heat pumps

Viessmann has introduced the Vitocal 350 heat pump which uses a boost cycle in the compressor to bring the delivered water flow temperature to 65°C. This higher flow temperature allows the unit to heat domestic hot water without using a secondary heat source, as a store temperature of 58°C can be achieved. Additionally the 65°C flow can be used in a conventional radiator circuit as well as an underfloor heating system. This provides the option of using heat pumps in existing buildings as well as in new build. The Vitocal 350 is equipped with a compliant screw compressor. In ground to water operation the Vitocal has an output of 11 kW and a coefficient of performance of 5.

Modulating gas boilers

Keston Boilers has launched the Keston C40 and Keston C55 modulating gas condensing boilers. The models are SEDBUK A rated, offering up to 99% efficiency. Both models measure 710 mm high by 520 mm wide and 320 mm deep and are wall mounted and room sealed. This means they can be sited anywhere with no need for a dedicated boiler room and no need for compartment ventilation. The 50 mm diameter flue on the C40 and C55 can extend to 15 m while the 75 mm option goes to 45 m vertically and horizontally.

Room sealed unit heaters

Benson Heating has introduced a range of room sealed gas fired unit heaters for industrial and commercial sites. The standard range covers outputs from 14 kW to 94 kW with axial fan, electronic ignition, fully room sealed compliant, stainless steel combustion chamber/heat exchanger, low NOx and low noise. The units have been configured as an option to be fitted with centrifugal fans, suitable for either internal or external siting. There is a high/low version which offers enhanced fuel economy and, as an alternative, high/low gas with two stage air volume displacement offering noise levels significantly lower than preceding models and typically as low as 37 dB(A). A full range of accessories includes filters, dampers, variable intake and outlet options.
