The UK's largest housing consultancy, Hacas Chapman Hendy, has poached the staff of rival DTZ Pieda's Scottish office in a move that Hacas claims makes it number one north of the border.
Six staff have moved from DTZ's Edinburgh office to Hacas, causing consternation at the former and making the latter the biggest housing consultancy in Scotland, with a team of nine.

The six movers include three directors. The most senior is Peter Wood, who was a director at Pieda when it was sold to DTZ in 1997 and has been with the firm for 22 years. Wood was head of public policy consulting at DTZ Pieda and will be managing director of Hacas in Scotland, to be known as Tribal HCH.

He said: "Hacas came to us with the chance to be somewhere where consultancy was central to everything the business does." The other five employees to move are Liz Shiel, Valerie Strachan, Edith McDowall, Ian Clark and Chris Adams.

However, a spokesman for DTZ later claimed the six consultants had been replaced.
