The Guinness Trust is on the verge of signing up to the National Housing Federation’s scheme to rebrand social housing after earlier refusing to join.
Guinness chief executive Simon Dow had expressed concern that the In Business for Neighbourhoods campaign was “not properly policed” and was “a club without any rules” (HT 16 January, page 10).

However, following discussions with NHF chair Richard Clark, Dow said: “I anticipate we’ll sign in the next couple of weeks.

“The message has come from Clark and [chief executive] Jim Coulter that they are committed to ensuring this works. I am reassured by what is happening.”

Guinness, which has 26,000 homes, is the last of the country’s large registered social landlords to sign up to the NHF’s £1m project.

So far, 371 registered social landlords have signed up to the campaign, which involves broadening the services they offer and raising their profiles.
