Firm gains garland for £24m medical project in Georgia

Gleeds' US division has won an award for work it completed on a £24m new cancer research centre in Augusta, Georgia. The firm won in the new construction category at the Construction Management Association of America.

The new medical facility will provide interdisciplinary bio-medical research space for 35 research departments, including cancer prevention and screening methods, as well as provide office accommodation for 175 associated research support staff. Alongside the research facilities, the centre houses conference rooms, offices and administration space.

Gleeds' Atlanta office team were praised for their effective and professional management of the project from the master planning phase through to project completion and handover. This is the second time Gleeds has been praised by the CMAA - last year the company won several awards on a national and regional level for the management of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, also in Atlanta.
