2:30PM Gleeds holds Sporting Heroes reception to collect funds for BBC charity
A host of sporting superstars have joined Gleeds’ ambassador Sir Steve Redgrave at a reception to help raise over £4,500 for BBC Sport Relief.
The “Sporting Heroes” reception was held at the Café Royal in London where more than 500 clients joined sports celebrities Jonathan Edwards, Tessa Sanderson, Fatima Whitbread and Duncan Goodhew to raise money for young people in some of the world’s poorest countries and vulnerable people in the UK.
Sir Redgrave said: “Shortly after I started working with Gleeds, I travelled to Africa as part of BBC Sport Relief and it was there I witnessed the terrible distress caused by the growth of AIDS to the younger population, as well as the appalling social conditions they live in. The Gleeds event has helped raise awareness and money to try and bring an end to this terrible poverty and disadvantage.”
