10:40AM Firm on team for Gloucester Quays project on 25 hectare brownfield site

Gardiner & Theobald is QS and planning supervisor on a major new £200m regeneration project planned for the centre of Gloucester. The mixed-use scheme is planned for a 25 hectare site situated on both sides of the Gloucester and Sharpness canals, most of which suffers from contamination and dereliction. The scheme is being jointly developed by Peel Holdings and British Waterways.

Planning permission was granted in June for the project, which will create 1,000 new homes along with waterside cafes, restaurants, bars and a new hotel. In addition to new places to live and play around Gloucester's historic docks, the planned development will also see a new foodstore, designer factory outlet shops, offices, workshops and a new canal bridge. Completion of Gloucester's Inner Relief Road and improved transport links throughout the City including cycle and pedestrian links and additional car and coach parking will also feature as a part of the regeneration plans.
