3:15PM Consultancy reports new schemes for clients Galway Racecourse and Urban Splash

Gardiner & Theobald has been appointed project manager to client Galway Racecourse for the Killanin Stand scheme.

The stand is being built at a total cost of €22m (£15m). Constructed over four floors, it will accommodate 7,000 people with seating for 700 on the balcony. Horse Racing Ireland has granted €10m (£6.7m) to the new development. Killanin Stand is due for completion by June 2007.

The global construction consultancy is also providing cost management and planning supervision services to client Urban Splash for its first Bristol based scheme at the Old Imperial Tobacco offices in Hartcliffe.

The firm has just been granted planning permission to develop the 4.65-hectare site. Working with architect Acanthus Ferguson Mann, the listed building will be transformed into Lake Shore, a development of 334 apartments, 24 living and work studios, shops and offices.

Urban Splash acquired Imperial House, which had stood empty for 14 years, in January 2005.
