Gardiner & Theobald has slid down this month’s ranking of project managers by ten slots. Meanwhile, rivals EC Harris and Capita have steadfastly maintained their positions

EC Harris With £413m of project management jobs under its belt for the year to date, EC Harris has been a strong performer recently in our exclusive rankings of PMs. The firm’s top contracts include a £335m commission to build a new bridge over the Mersey. The project for Halton Borough Council is to last five years. ECH is building up its retail operation with the recent recruitment of Jerry Young as senior retail consultant. He joins from project management consultancy Zebra Projects and has worked with Arcadia, Debenhams and Tesco.

Capita Symonds The firm has held on to 7th place, despite a slight slip in the value of its project management jobs, Capita Symonds now has 13 schemes worth £320, compared to 324m last month. Key current project management contracts include Twickenham stadium, where the £105m new stand is nearing completion but due to go slightly over budget. The scheme, which was granted planning consent on 1 December 2004, will increase the rugby venue’s capacity from 75,000 to 82,000. The QS on the scheme is Stace.

Gardiner & Theobald Having slipped from number 11 to 21 in the month’s project management league, Gardiner & Theobald has only £135m of PM work on its books for the year to date. This compares to £184m last month. But G&T has won some impressive commissions nonetheless. These include the £50m Leeds Met “Rose Bowl” project, which is due to start on site in March 2007.
