Northern Ireland-based designer Hamilton Architects has already begun work on the project, which is due to be completed in time for Liverpool’s year as Capital of Culture in 2008.
The proposed designs for the terminal building have been formulated to complement the city’s famous Three Graces monument, which stands in the ferry terminal area and is within a World Heritage Site. Plans for the terminal include the use of natural materials, arranged in a modern geometrical form. The building footprint is 528 sq m to a maximum height of 14m.
