It has been more than 20 years since Carl Fuhr and Carl F Petersen forged their alliance, dedicated to new generation lock technology

Carl Fuhr and Carl F Petersen share more than a resemblance in their company names – both have lengthy track records focusing on quality, service and innovation. As a result, a strong partnership relationship has been forged focusing on developing the market for new generation lock technology.

For almost 150 years, the Germany-based Fuhr organisation has spearheaded breakthrough developments in locking solutions. Carl F Petersen has a similarly impressive history dating back to 1881 when the group’s parent company was established in Denmark.

Sharing established pedigrees and strategies, Fuhr has supplied its products to Carl F Petersen’s UK hardware distribution operation since the late 80s.

Carl F Petersen’s business development manager Bruce Bradshaw comments: ‘Fuhr systems have consistently broken new ground in locking solutions that pre-empt market needs and plug a gap in technology. Reflecting the drive for innovation, Carl F Petersen has supported Fuhr in the development of new products, providing local sector knowledge and acting as a channel to convey key product benefits to the UK hardware industry.

‘Central to this successful partnership strategy is the drive to provide customers with the right product at the right price. Carl F has successfully achieved this over two decades for Fuhr in the UK, providing customers with solutions that combine quality, innovation and added value.

With Fuhr Systems we are able to highlight real benefits rather than just listing features

‘Fuhr is prepared to invest in the research and development that is needed to provide high performance solutions that capture the imagination of the market. When we promote Fuhr systems we are able to highlight real benefits as opposed to simply listing standard features.’

Locking system product innovations developed by Fuhr and distributed by Carl F include the Fuhr Multisafe 870, which has captured the imagination of the UK window hardware sector. Designed to be used in both single and double door applications, the 870 provides a revolutionary locking solution that successfully offers both security and safety benefits.

Another breakthrough product that shows Fuhr’s perceptive recognition of specialist market requirements is the 881 electronically operated lock. The door can be unlocked by remote control using a pad that is provided or can even be operated by finger print recognition. The remote operation has proved popular with users who have difficulty with keys or lever operation.

Demonstrating creativity in materials as well as concepts, Fuhr has also produced the Platinum door bolt range. Using corrosion-resistant components throughout, the highly durable product uses stainless steel where possible: it is not just a conventional bolt with stainless steel faceplate. The product is backed by a special Fuhr 10-year performance guarantee, which includes use in coastal sites or areas of industrial pollution.

The full range of Carl Fuhr locking systems for both window and door applications is available from Carl F Petersen.
