Gladwin's take on the best software for doing Monte Carlo correctly

There are several software packages that currently fall into two groups: risk analysis and risk management.

Risk management software includes Active Risk Manager and RisGen - concerned mostly with capturing and controlling risks.

Risk analysis software such as @RISK, Pertmaster, Predict and Crystal Ball are focused on the analysis of cost or time impacts of the identified risks.

There is currently a movement towards more integrated approaches, packages which purport to manage as well as analyse. My experience to date is that those packages which are stepping out of their ‘core’ area of management or analysis are not doing the other very well.
