John Anderson appointed development director at client Parkview International
Former Bovis Lend Lease Europe managing director John Anderson has taken up a key role in redeveloping Battersea Power Station. Having acted as a consultant for developers Parkview International Anderson, who has also worked at developers Chelsfield and Land Securities, will now be development director.
Anderson said: "I have been tremendously impressed with what Parkview has achieved to date. They have managed to overcome a lot of obstacles and still remain true to their vision. There is, of course, still a lot of work to do and there will be more obstacles but I am confident that we have a world class team with the ability to deliver a world class development."
Anderson's appointment follows the revelation in last week's Property Week that Parkview chief executive Michael Roberts was likely to leave the firm and that finance director Michael Russell had left. A statement from parkview said that the Hwang family, who own Parkview, would be taking direct control of key management functions from now. This includes president Victor Hwang being made executive director, his son Leo Hwang becoming vice president and Vicky Hwang being made director of leasing.
The statement said the client was proceeding with work on the redevelopment of Battersea Park railway station and renovating the Power Station Jetty and said that the demolition/rebuilding of the chimneys was due to begin in early 2007.
The developer added that plans for financing the next phase of the scheme were "well advanced" and "in conjunction with this the development team are reviewing the Power Station leasing strategy including terms and relationships with agencies".
