Solutions this week are the very pinnacle of products for all water applications, from a drainage solution for an alpine lodge to an axially split pump range
Drainage solution
Building Adhesives Limited (BAL) provided Gutjahr System Technology drainage solutions for the restoration of Baden Lodge in the East Tyrolean Alps. As the lodge is 2,608m above sea level the renovated sun terrace required protection from adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow and ice. BAL supplied a capillary breaking drainage mat, AquaDrain EK, to prevent permanent damage during installation. The company says this system has been specifically designed for the safe installation of natural stone and that it prevents moisture storage in the substructure and allows rainwater to run away from the assembly. Rainwater solution
Marley Alutec has supplied a rainwater solution for the cascading roofs of Leicester’s Centre for Medicine. The building, which is Passivhaus and BREEAM certified, comprises three towers of differing heights linked by glass-roofed atriums, because of this the building posed a rainwater drainage challenge. The company worked closely with the architect and roofing contractor to provide all flow calculations and matrices for the roof system. According to Marley Alutec, all products within the bespoke system provided were made of marine-grade aluminium and have a life expectancy of 50 years or more.

Waterproofing system
Liquid technology manufacturer WestWood has provided its Wecryl waterproofing system for a balcony refurbishment project in East Sussex. Installer Michael Jonson Roofing applied the Wecryl 276 primer layer following the waterpoofing layer Wecryl 230. After the waterproofing layer cured, a two-component protective layer was installed using Wecryl 233. The system was completed by using a tile-effect finish with WestWood’s Wecryl 288 sealer coat in RAL7043 and black and white deco chips that the company says provide slip resistance.
