Kalzip’s XT standing seam cladding system has been used on the striking “aircraft hangar” roof of the recently completed Skills Academy at the City of Bristol College.

Designed by Archial Architects and installed by Lakesmere, the roof canopy gently curves to meet the wall cladding. The installation comprises 3,000 individual sheets and, to help with the design of the supporting steelwork, a 3D computer model was created to meet the necessary tolerances and to deliver the thermal and acoustic requirements.

The bespoke design also required the production of a variety of detailed drawings illustrating how the liners, substructure and Kalzip sheets were to be installed.
