This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by John Puttick, of John Puttick Associates, who won the RIBA competition for redevelopment of the 1960s brutalist Preston Bus Station. The sketches show concepts for the Youth Zone Building, next to the bus station, which has now won planning approval.

Puttick says: “Freehand sketching was useful for us to study the relationship of what we see as the satellite structures to Preston’s brutalist bus station. In this way, sketching for us is a critical tool in exploring the character and qualities of a given site.”
