Sketch of the week: University of Winchester

This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by Richard Jobson, director at Design Engine, and shows the University of Winchester’s new West Downs campus.

Jobson says: “I have worked in Winchester for nearly 30 years so have become familiar with the detail and grain of the city. The sketch explores the potential of the site as a gateway to the city as well as offering the opportunity to reference the grade II-listed building seen in the distance. As a practice, whilst embracing new technology, we still develop all our projects through the use of sketches and physical models, with this sketch being typical of a drawing developed to describe the project to the client. It is created through a synthesis of knowledge of the site, site photographs and computer 3D modelling using felt tip pen.”
