Sketch of the week: Turnmill

This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by Stuart Piercy at Piercy & Co. Architects and is of Turnmill, 63 Clerkenwell Road, which the firm completed for Derwent London last month. He says: “The sketch shows the intention to break down the proposed office form into two smaller buildings connected by a deeply recessed entrance. The form takes inspiration from a ‘delphi’ sculpture by Barbara Hepworth and the many tiny lanes and inner courtyards of Clerkenwell. Turnmill Street is drawn under the building repairing the poor relationship the existing building had with the junction of Clerkenwell Road.”
