This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch was drawn by Ammar Azzouz, currently a research student at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, University of Bath.

The image was drawn as part of his graduation project in 2010, while studying at Al-Baath University, in the Syrian city of Homs, and was called The Reorganisation of Homs City Centre.

The aim of the project was to create a chain of spaces connected with each other that collects all the Homsian people from different ages and backgrounds.

Azzouz says: “Unfortunately the war has changed the face of the city and left so many suburbs in an enormous destruction. But there is always a hope, and Homs will be rebuilt again.”
