This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by Gian Kundi, partner in The Tooley and Foster Partnership, and is of Francesco Borromini’s San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane in Rome. Kundi says: “In my final year of Part II, I was writing a dissertation on 15th-century Rome architect Borromini and his influence on modern architecture. I took a trip to Rome to have a closer look at Borromini’s work and fell in love with the iconic masterpiece of Baroque architecture that is San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane. I sat on the street junction and drew this picture amongst all the hustle and bustle of the passing traffic. The undulating facade is indeed non-classical and paved the way to modern architecture.”
