Sketch of the week: Rural-urban hybrid

This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by Sam Jacob, director of architect studio FAT. He says: “It’s part of a masterplan my studio is working on in collaboration with Hawkins Brown. We’re exploring an idea of a development that’s not quite urban, not quite rural but definitely non-suburban. Rather, we hope its a new kind of rural-urban hybrid. Traditional barn-like structures have been developed into flexible living spaces that can accommodate change over time. Variety in the buildings’ scale, shape and siting gives variety in terms of house type and programme, as well as a more relaxed relationship to landscape.”
