Sketch of the week: Old Street Iconic Gateway, London

This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch features Pilbrow & Partners’ competition entry for the Old Street Iconic Gateway competition. The firm says its design is stimulating, accessible and responsive to the character of the lively and informal neighbourhood. The proposal uses the deck and giant LED screen to elevate the public space above the surrounding traffic and provides a place to relax with a drink, see friends or chill out. There is public access behind the screen to a viewing terrace on its upper edge. The competition was launched by Islington council, with the Mayor of London, Transport for London and Hackney council.
